Laboratory Testing & Analysis in Cambridge

Rocky Mountain Analytical laboratory partnerLifeLabs laboratory testing partner

Whether you want profile your body’s state, or help interpreting your past test results, we work with major Canadian laboratories to test for vitamin deficiencies, food sensitivities, thyroid and hormone levels, candida and other pathogens, as well as liver, kidney and other organ function.

In an IgG reaction, the IgG antibodies attach themselves to the food antigen and create an antibody-antigen complex. These complexes are normally removed by special cells called macrophages. However, if they are present in large numbers and the reactive food is still being consumed, the macrophages can’t remove them quickly enough. The food antigen-antibody complexes accumulate and are deposited in body tissues. Once in tissue, these complexes release inflammation causing chemicals, which may play a role in numerous diseases and conditions. antibodies.

The Celiac Profile tests for gliadin antibodies, to determine if gluten sensitivity is the problem – along with tissue transglutaminase antibodies to diagnose for celiac disease.

While few people have celiac disease, many with gluten sensitivity produce antibodies to wheat proteins, which can inflame the gut lining and produce symptoms. The effects of gluten sensitivity are often unpleasant, but unlike celiac disease, do not cause permanent damage.

Gut-well is a thorough evaluation of stool that may help in the management of many GI symptoms. Digestive Stool Analysis provides you with information regarding your digestive and absorption, potential inflammation, gut ecology, pathogen profile (both baterial and parasites), and the state of your immune function.

This simple, non-invasive, at-home test will provide you with a broad range of information about your overall health.

The Fatty Acid Profile measures the percentage of fatty acids in red blood cells from a convenient dried blood spot. Measurements include to assess for heart disease risk, the ratio of Arachidonic Acid (AA) to Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) as a marker of inflammation, total Omega-3 fatty acids, total Omega-6 fatty acids along with mono-unsaturated fatty acids, trans fatty acids and saturated fats. Measurement of fatty acid content in red blood cell membranes shows less biological variability than measurement in plasma or serum.

Candida is a type of yeast normally found in the bowel that requires sugars to grow. Elevated IgG antibodies to Candida are often found when someone has a fungal infection of some sort. For example, vaginal yeast infection, ‘jock itch’, and ringworm. Consuming too many sugar-rich foods can contribute to overgrowth of Candida. Symptoms associated with Candida overgrowth include:

  • clouded thinking
  • depression
  • diarrhea
  • fatigue
  • menstrual pain
  • vaginal yeast infections
  • headaches

Saliva Hormones
Saliva hormone testing is very useful for finding underlying hormone excesses and deficiencies, but needs to be interpreted with care when hormones are being supplemented. Saliva tests include:

  • Adrenal Function Panel
  • Female Panel
  • Male Panel
  • Month-Long Assessment

Thyroid Hormone (Urine) Test
Thyroid hormones can also increase energy, help food move through the gastrointestinal tract and increase perspiration. Because its effects are so far-reaching, a lack of thyroid hormone can result in a number of health conditions including:

  • depression
  • fatigue
  • cold body temperature
  • arthritis and muscle cramps
  • headaches
  • weight gain
  • poor reflexes

Acupuncture is a great treatment modality to promote blood flow, decrease inflammation, and stimulate nerve endings to alter their signalling in your brain. Using this function of Acupuncture, we frequently employ it to aid in the balancing of hormones, promoting weight loss, helping with stress, anxiety and depression, and improving your digestion.  When you’re ready to start, we’re here to help – and if you’re curious about acupuncture, come by and we’ll show you how it’s done.
